Mercy Prayer book review

Book review of The Mercy Prayer

Book Description:
In the Bible one prayer is prayed more than any other: “Lord, have mercy.” And God never refuses this prayer.

The Mercy Prayer examines dozens of times in the Bible when people pray this prayer, including King David’s heartfelt prayers for mercy found throughout the Psalms. The reader will be immersed in the truths that God is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in love.

Throughout the centuries, Christians have discovered that it is possible to pray this prayer of mercy—this request for a miracle—with every beat of our hearts. We desperately need mercy, and God desires to lavishly give it. But there are strings attached. God grants mercy with the expectation that we, in turn, will be merciful people.

The author’s engaging, accessible style teamed with an in-depth study of this simple prayer will touch every reader’s heart.

The Mercy Prayer is a must-read for the person in need of God’s mercy, searching for a genuine experience of the love of God, desiring renewal in his or her walk with God, hunting for a theological form that is rooted in Christian history yet free flowing to respond to individual experience, or seeking to have God’s love flow through them resulting in acts of mercy.

Book Review:
When in trouble, we call out to the Lord for His unending mercy. As His children, when we cry unto Him for mercy, He pours out His mercy upon us. It is perhaps the simplest prayer there is. Yet, it utters so much. It is when we are at our weakest that we ask for mercy. It is when we are at our weakest that we cry out to Christ. It is in our weakest that we are lifted in His graces.

The-Mercy-Prayer-by-Robert-GelinasBlessed is he who has regard for the weak;
the LORD delivers him in times of trouble.
The LORD will protect him and preserve his life;
He will bless him in the land
and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.
The LORD will sustain him on his sick-bed
and restore him from his bed of illness.
I said, "O LORD, have mercy on me;
heal me, for I have sinned against you.

Robert Gelinas wrote The Mercy Prayer to reveal how the wisdom  and mercy of the Lord continues to be given. Gelinas uses personal stories and insight to provide the reader with this resource. The Mercy Prayer will serve as a guide for the reader on how to receive mercy and how to personally release it. Gelinas notes a prayer to the Lord for mercy is the most prayed request in the Bible. It is noted as almost always being the one prayer the Lord grants...although, sometimes in surprising ways.

The book was easy to read and understand. The message is timeless.

I received a complimentary copy of this book or advanced reading copy, from Thomas Nelson through BookSneeze®, for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review in exchange for this book .
