Standing at the precipice...

Image
For weeks now I have been standing at the edge of the precipice. I have been curling my toes over the edge, trying to not be made to go farther. Today I realized I have been being pushed - out and over - farther and farther out...my toes are no longer just hanging over the edge. Today I looked down and realized that almost both of my feet were in thin air. Only my heals barely remain attached to the ground. I am pushed farther and farther over and out. Only my YWHW holds onto me...tight.

Stains of Sadness...

Image
I have been thinking about writing about this a lot - often - too often to count. It did not happen to me, but it pains me. These thoughts occur more than I would like them to do so. And, when they do, I am overwhelmed. Most of the time if occurs with me looking at a picture. Other times it happens when I see some trait in my children that reminds me of him and then my mind jumps, runs, faster than I can stop it and I am saddened. It lingers over family photographs in a manner which cannot be described. The backdrop of this is a simple statement of something that occurred almost a century ago...almost 90 years ago to be exact. My great-grandmother was murdered. I have heard some say she was slain. I know the words mean the same, but it seems to me like it is a nicer word. Murder sounds heinous and evil. The manner in which she died was pure evil. It ripped apart a family. It took a mother away from her children. It left a stain of sadness upon us. And, I do not think people often thi...

Never will I get enough...

I know you came to rescue me...died for me...it was my cross, too. Hallelujah.   Love my Lord!   Of You, I will never get enough.

God Help Me to Be...

Image
This is not an official video of this group, but something someone recorded. I love the words to this song and the message it conveys. I love this band. I love how the Holy Spirit is flowing through them. Lyrics: God, help me to be closer to You, Lord, so I am farther from me / And may Your kingdom be the only one that I seek, oh God / And God, help me to see that everything was good when You created all things / Now let me see with those same eyes that created me, oh God // God, help me believe when everything around me points to uncertainty / Remind me of the hope of You that's living in me, oh God / And God, help me to shine like stars up in the universe that's Yours and not mine / And fill me with Your light so that the darkness will hide, oh God // Hallelujah, Amen // God, help me to give everything to You that I'm unable to give / And make my life the life I've been created to live, oh God / And God, help me to go, and follow where You lead me so all nations...

ENOUGH is a good word!

Awhile back, I did a post about wanting to not leave my children a legacy, but to forge them a trail. I wanted them to have a life where they knew it was okay to BE in Christ ,

We Know We Are Homeschoolers...

We Know We Are Homeschoolers... Clothes: 1.  I have to consider if I should get out of my pajamas and put on normal clothes, because a friend is coming over. 2.  My son wants to know if he has to change into normal clothes. 3.  My son puts on a pair of jeans and we discuss he is growing out of them...we may have to buy him new ones. I would be more concerned with such if he were going to public school facilities, but in our environment, he can dress as he pleases. School Supplies: 1.  We buy the normal textbooks for subjects and content (though none are secular). 2.  Our school supply list included items like the following: ax sledgehammer hacksaw permanent markers duct tape rebar poles stakes fencing wire pallets 3.  We also bought paper and pencils. In general: 1.  People not within the same circles of you and your family do not understand the things you discuss. 2.  Family members may not understand what you are doing...

floods of grace and blessings

Image
Today, as I was pulling from my street onto the main road to drive out to run errands, I stopped at the sign and looked both ways. The road was clear and I proceeded to pull into the intersection. Then I saw it (though you may not have) and I felt it (though you may not have). I was stopped, before I could ever get to a good roll. A hand reached down and held us from proceeding forward. We were held back. A green sedan came flying by. It almost seemed close enough to touch. The car had not been there previously and then there it was. The hand receded and the my SUV was allowed to move forward. I am ever thankful for the Hand that reaches down to provide His unyielding protection upon me and mine. I am ever thankful for the unending veil that is extended for cover. I am ever thankful for the extensions, blessings, and grace that are rained down upon us 'til the flood waters must burst forth, perpetually endless through the depths of His existence. And with rain and floods o...

Embrace the Weeds!!!

Image
yeah!!!  i know it is an odd title, but i seriously think i am fascinated by weeds lately...     people either have a love or hate relationship with weeds...when i cared about my lawn and having a well manicured front yard (to not disappoint the neighbors, because "what would the neighbors think?"), i hated weeds. they were evasive and in the way. i wanted them dead and gone. the last four years have changed me...i am not sure what about all the changes...   i do remember when my older child was born and i was learning how to cook and trying to figure everything out, almost everything we ate came in a box. i loved those wretched hamburger helper type meals. now i would not touch those suckers with a ten-foot pole. give me fresh veggies and fruit any ole' day. :)  about 5-6 years ago, i started to really care about cooking. i started to like it and the more i did, the fresher our eating materials became. boxed and prepackaged became freezer food more...

Sake of One-vs-Greater Good of Many

Do you ever have something that really weighs upon you??  I am sick of hearing about sacrificing for the greater good. My husband and I like to watch the television show Person of Interest   together. I was watching one of the episodes today while working on some stuff for my universities. It was playing in the background. The main character discussed sacrificing one for the greater good of many. Now this bothers me... It mainly bothers me, because this was said to me by a pediatric nurse in relation to my younger child many years ago. I do not remember what the nurse looked like. I do not remember what else I did that day, but I do remember her words. I still hear them. They whisper at me sometimes when we are at the doctor. This happened when my child was 4. He was in 4K at the school at taught at. He had climbed a bobbed-wire fence at the back of the playground to retrieve a ball that had went beyond the boundary lines of the schoolyard. He got cut on the fence and de...

Salt and Light

Image
salt only loses its saltiness when diluted or mixed with things it was not intended to mix with. light only becomes dark when placed into the vacuum. are you Salt and Light? or, do you allow yourself to mix with what you are not supposed to mix with? are you Salt and Light? or, do you allow yourself to walk in darkness, letting the vacuum envelope you? time to choose. make a choice. make a stand.

Daughters...

Image
I have sons...two of them...they are gifts...I have no biologically birthed daughters...I often think of the two daughters I have out there, birthed by other mothers, their biological mothers, who will marry my sons...who will become my daughters...I think of them and pray for them...   Tonight, at a regional homeschool meeting the speaker talked about praying for the spouses of your children. It occurs to me I have been doing this for quite awhile. I want these women to be graced and dripping and covered in the presence of the Lord and Spirit. I want their families to be safe. I want them covered and blessed. Tonight, a friend setting next to me at the meeting stated she had never prayed for the spouses her children will someday have. I replied I have been doing it for years. I admit, I did not pray for the spouse of my older child until I became saved. So technically, the spouses of my sons have been being prayed for an equal amount of time. So tonight, I reminisced on ...
